Share GPX, KML and KMZ files
Geo Tracker can save any trip as a GPX, KML or KMZ file and send it to another app: a messenger, email, cloud storage, or another map or navigation app. All your trips are stored only on your device, so sharing a file is how you get a track out of the app.
Share a trip
Section titled “Share a trip”- Tap ☰ at the top left of the map to open the trip list, and tap the trip to select it.
- Tap Share as file under the trip name. You can also find it in the trip’s ⋮ menu.
- Choose a file format.
- Choose the app to send the file to.
Choose a format
Section titled “Choose a format”All three formats contain the same track and markers:
- GPX is supported by almost every GPS app, sports platform and navigation device. If you’re not sure, choose GPX.
- KML is the format of Google Earth.
- KMZ is a zipped KML file. It takes the least space, which helps with long tracks.
Each point has its coordinates, altitude and time. If Export extended data is turned on in Settings → Data, under Export, the file also includes speed, accuracy, satellites and other details. See Extended data in GPX and KML files.
Open a file in Geo Tracker
Section titled “Open a file in Geo Tracker”To add a GPX, KML or KMZ file you received, find it in your file manager, messenger, email or cloud storage app, tap Share or Open with, and choose Geo Tracker. The file is imported as a new trip.
Keep all trips in a folder
Section titled “Keep all trips in a folder”Geo Tracker can also write all your trips as files to a folder and import new files from it, for example a folder in Google Drive or iCloud Drive. Tap the Sync icon at the bottom of the trip list to set it up, or use Sync this trip in a trip’s ⋮ menu to write just one trip. This is also the easiest way to transfer tracks to a new device.
