Export chart data

The charts in Geo Tracker cover speed and altitude. To build your own charts or analyze a track in a spreadsheet, convert the track file into a table.

  1. Share the trip as a GPX file and save it on your computer.
  2. Download the stylesheet GeoTracker.xslt.
  3. Convert the file with xsltproc:
    Terminal window
    xsltproc --nonet --output track.tsv GeoTracker.xslt track.gpx
On macOS, install xsltproc with brew install libxslt. For Windows, see the libxml downloads.
  4. Open track.tsv in Excel, Numbers, Google Sheets or another spreadsheet app.

Each row is one track point, with these columns:

  1. Date
  2. Time, in UTC
  3. Latitude
  4. Longitude
  5. Altitude, in meters
  6. Speed, in meters per second
  7. Speed, in kilometers per hour

The speed columns are filled only if the file was exported with Export extended data turned on. See Extended data in GPX and KML files.
